Celebrating and juggling
I was lucky enough to be invited to a beautiful gathering of wonderful people to celebrate the wedding of my friends J & J. Although no gifts were required I couldn’t resist making an illustration of their wedding day (which had taken place a few weeks prior to the party). It was mentioned that this CS Lewis quote “To love is to be vulnerable” was a reading at the ceremony so added it too because I thought it was really sweet.
I am so delighted that they love it as much as they do! Quotes from the bride "omg Lisa this is the best present EVER!!!!", "…the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen."
I was reluctant to share because of the whole not wanting to brag or trying to be humble and feeling unworthy of the praise. I think it’s something ingrained in many of us. But feeling the flurries of warmth in my heart from the reaction it has gotten, not just from J & J, but from others who have seen it too, I thought why not share.
It’s a special feeling to be able to make something for people you love and to have them love it too!
I don’t (currently) offer caricature portraits as a service as they take a long time to make and I’m already busy making everything else - cards, prints, pins, new designs for them all and I’m now trying out my designs on tote bags and some more sophisticated prints with gold leaf! (Always juggling!). However it’s something I would consider doing more of if there was enough interest.
Do you wanna see my new totes? I’ll give you the first look! They are 38x42cm, light-weight, strong quality, machine washable, with long handles (74cm) with my own designs in vinyl cut and pressed by myself in my home studio. Priced at €12-€15. You are welcome to message me to pre-order if you see any you particularly like.
When I say new…I have had the blank totes in storage, and my heat press sitting wishing to be used for over a year and a half. I don’t know why I found the thought of it so daunting because I’m enjoying making them now and have lots more designs ready to jump out of my head and onto a bag!
The sun is due to come out this weekend to say hello for a couple of days. I hope you have some lovely plans made. I’ll be in Strandhill Peoples Market on Sunday. I will be looking after my own stall as well as looking after another one for Eddie Lee Photographer - there I go juggling again! It’s the markets 8th birthday! I’m sure they will have lots planned. Check out their Instagram or Facebook to get updates.
Another day, another Instagram post turned into a bog!!!! 🤣🤣
Stay sassy!

Here’s the reading for you:
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.” C.S. Lewis
