Things to do for Galentine’s Day
Hey there, thanks for stopping by! I decided to give this blog thing a go and where better to start but with celebrating fun and friends!
Have you heard of Galentine’s day? It’s on February the 13th and is a day to celebrate friendship. I know, I know you’re thinking not another made up holiday for companies to make money. But it’s not really, yes it’s a made up holiday but it came about from a small scene on the very funny TV show Parks and Recreation where the main character Leslie Knope shares the fact that she celebrates the day giving presents and writes a 5000 word essay about each of her pals on why they are so awesome.
"What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.”
-Leslie Knope, Parks and Recreation
If you decide to embrace the day I’ve put together a few ideas on what you could do to celebrate the day with your friends and it doesn’t include writing a 5000 word essay! Who has time for that!
Things to do for Galentine’s Day
- Kick it breakfast style - Take a note from Leslie Knope herself and meet up with your pals for breakfast or brunch and have some delicious waffles or pancakes.
- Exchange some handcrafted prezzies if you are the crafty type.
- Plan a day of relaxation, maybe massage or a seaweed bath.
- Have a wine and craft evening
- Keep it simple and send each other a card.
- Book a table at your favourite restaurant.
- Maybe you can’t meet up, so make use of your well honed Zoom skills from the past while and have a virtual night out together.
- Have a board game night.
- Road trip! Whether it’s a hike up a mountain or a visit to the beach or a drive to to that little pub in the middle of nowhere that you heard about.
- Meet up at one of your houses and have a cocktail making night.
- Simply pop by and visit each other and have a cuppa and a chat.
Whatever you decide to do, have loads of fun! If you have any more ideas I’d love to hear them.
I have a few cards perfect for the occasion.
